even though we get one in the fall, this one always feels stolen

Happy (?) Daylight Savings Time, everybody. That's why the timestamp on this makes it look like I'm up way the hell too late. Which... okay, I am. But I blame the government!

Actually, I blame Zodiac. That movie had some freaking *creepy* moments. I'd talk more about it, but I'm not film-student-y enough to know how to articulate why it was amazing and simultaneously unsatisfying. The best I can come up with is: I've been conditioned to expect a certain category of endings from movies like this, and this one... doesn't have one of those. Ultimately, it feels like the last 45 minutes are missing. So I can appreciate the artistry of the movie (and man, is it well-made, on all fronts), but as *entertainment*, it doesn't win. It doesn't lose, because the ~160 minute runtime doesn't feel like any time at all, but it just ain't there for me. Would I see it again? Maybe. Probably not. But it's an amazing film.

Got 80% of my to-do list for the weekend done. This is progress! Of course, tomorrow's the time-consuming 20%: writing and responding to email, grocery shopping, vacuuming. And then maybe making something awesome for dinner, which I haven't done in quite some time.

a bizarre report card

People! This Justin Hartley clip is [old news]. Clearly the folks who have been freaking out about it have not been paying attention. You get a pass this time, but next time it's coming out of your final grade.

I'm going to send email out today to everyone who volunteered to help promote in the poll post from ages ago, and will do some promoting myself, but if you're in an RPF community, why not post a link to rpfremix or the [FAQ/signup post]? I don't have anything to offer but my undying love and appreciation, but it does come with a shiny certificate!

but there was basil!

Ambitious plan for today ended in failure. Really, I blame Roommate E, who managed to get sick and sleep half the day, meaning that every time I wanted to do the vacuuming, she was asleep. But we did buy groceries, including a metric fuckton of fresh basil and some pippin apples. The plan was: make a lot of pesto, then make an apple pie. Of course, E got sick instead.

But we did make the pesto. It's awesome on sourdough. And pasta. And tortillas. And... most everything, really. (oh god, YUM.) And today was the most gorgeous all year -- and no end in sight for this weather pattern. ROCK.

Now is the time on Sprockets when we plan for tomorrow:
* interview at 3pm (late lunch with D, J, etc.?)
* vacuuming
* rehearsal
* enjoy all this freaking gorgeous weather

Yep, I think that's a Plan.
