a. The thing that has surprised me the most about the ability to work from home is how *useful* it's been -- I really didn't expect to make as much use of it as I have. That said, it was even hard to drag myself from my bed to my computer this morning. Bed warm. Computer chair not so warm. Life hard.

b. Recipes are coming today, I promise. So all you folks who are just here for the food, today's the day for the last three recipes. Until I decide to start posting more of them, that is.

c. Because I am nuts, I have joined another chorus. I think that about says it all, doesn't it?

d. I am still not caught up on SPN. The question is this: do I watch the new ep tomorrow, or do I wait for a download? It will probably build on things I don't know, but the desire to see the Winchesters on my TV rather than my computer screen is a powerful one.

Er. Not that you should make them all at once or anything. Though I'm sure they'd be good!

The gingerbread recipe comes from a book called Homemade Bread that I got as a hand-me-down from my mother at Christmas. It is hysterically funny, and many of the recipes are way outdated, but I tried this and it's really good. It recommends slicing the finished product into 9 squares; I suggest 16, since it bakes way up.

I've also modified the recipe a little to exclude some things I don't have (orange zest, cardamom) and it still tastes great. But if you'd prefer to add the omitted items, I'll put them at the bottom. Also, for those who don't keep buttermilk on-hand, it turns out that a Tablespoon of lemon juice plus enough milk to equal 1 cup is equivalent to 1 cup of buttermilk, if you let it sit for 5 minutes.

gingerbread -- even better the second (and third, and fourth...) day! )

We tried these biscuits last night and they were good, but there's a cautionary tale here -- if you use a soup can as a biscuit cutter (as I did), the edges will smash together and the biscuits will rise unevenly and not flake well. Use biscuit (or cookie) cutters for a clean, sharp cut. Makes 12 biscuits.

The jury is still out on whether or not my fried rice is healthier than takeout fried rice. I'm pretty sure it is, but have no way to deduce such a thing. Oh well. It's tasty nonetheless!

The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

The first person to ask about my gender gets swift divine retribution. It's been pointed out that I discuss being a boy too often.

Also, dear loyal people involved in [livejournal.com profile] mistletoemagic, I have not forgotten about you. But [livejournal.com profile] bubosquared seems to have forgotten about me ::acts all emo:: I'm rounding up the last couple pinch-hits and if I don't hear from Melle I'll just post the stories to the LJ community. Thanks for your patience. The timing of my vacation kind of sucked for that, but I assumed Melle would be around.

You scored as Cedric Diggory. If you went to Hogwart you would be the lucky girl guy fucking Cedric Diggory! Congratulations! Popular, good looking, and a hell of an athlete. All he had to do was look at you and you were on your back! MMMMM I bet that sex is golden!

Too bad he dies...

Oh well, enjoy that fine piece of man while he lasts..
