I had friends over for dinner and made [potato-leek soup] and [seared teriyaki salmon] with fresh green beans. Dinner was good, but the pièce de résistance was my new recipe for cinnamon swirl bread.

Modified only a tiny bit from [Cook's Illustrated's ] [The New Best Recipe] which is my new favorite cookbook. Many of the recipes are a bit involved for me, but it's got so many great recipes that it's a good addition to any cook's bookshelf. I highly recommend it.

After five and a half hours, you're ready to eat it. A bit excessive, I know, but this is *so* good. If you're planning to be in the kitchen (or even just around the house) all day, you might consider giving this a try. I certainly enjoyed it, as did my guests -- I had to work extra-hard to secure a piece for breakfast tomorrow!
