It should be fun, but I will be sans internet until Sunday night. I'll miss you! Post lots of things while I'm away!

apetslife's LJ, I said something like "I don't like them bossy *or* drunk" and ethrosdemon went "who in the what, now?", so I felt like I needed to say this, since apparently a lot of you don't know.
I don't drink. I have never knowingly ingested alcohol (it's possible that my dad or grandparents gave me some beer as a youngster, but I don't recall), including communion wine. People ask me "why the fuck not?" all the time, and this is the answer I give them: I have three reasons. One, I have seen people do *monumentally* stupid shit while drunk, and I have no desire to be That Guy. Two, as evidenced by my waistline, I have a hard time knowing when to stop when it comes to *food*; when it comes to alcohol, I'd probably drink myself to death. And three, do you have any idea how much money I save by not drinking? It's an acquired habit; by not acquiring it, in comparison to most guys my age, I probably save more than a hundred dollars a month.
People are going to read this and roll their eyes. Fine, whatever. Do what you want; it doesn't bother me (well, within reason -- if you puke on my front porch I will come at you with a two-by-four). But it's one of the things in the WB RPS fandom that's making me go "hmmm" because so much of the boys' interaction is either caused by or facilitated by massive quantities of alcohol -- some 95% of all recreational activity I've seen between these boys involves alcohol. That includes both sex and just plain hanging out. I think it's realistic, but after a certain point it gets boring to me, I guess. "Want sex? Add alcohol!" as a formula is very real, but in this fandom it seems like the ONLY formula. Come on, people; where are the (as Pet said) "aliens made them do it" stories? The jealousy stories?
