Well it's Saturday morning and LJ isn't dead. We can attribute this to a) the skill and speed of the LJ staff in implementing their patch, or b) the number of people who got GreatestJournals and the umbrella effect. Since it's a Saturday, I'm not up for too much intellectual heavy lifting, so I'm going to let you all draw your own conclusions. And no, I don't have a GJ.

Secret to [livejournal.com profile] robanybody: I may have updated my [gallery] with several (dozen) new photos that I had on my computer. Hope they help!

The Wizard People showing was a failure, due to the early departure of some half the group, which meant we didn't even show it. The guy who owns the DVD left it for me, though, so there may yet be a showing one of these days. Instead, the four of us that remained played Scrabble and I won even without wearing my Scrabble t-shirt! Yes, I am a nerd, shut up.

And now, we go back to sleep. What? It's still before 10. Bite me.

Point the first: Remix is done! Well, it's written and off to beta. Should be done within the next couple days and in the meantime I can turn my attention to other things.

Point the second: [this] is the best thing I've seen all day. Did *you* know the original Red Power Ranger turned into a gay porn star? Yeah, neither did I. Oh, ONTD.

Point the third: the recycling center is closed because it's after 5; I should have gone earlier. Now I'm going to have to do it tomorrow. Drat.

Point the fourth: the roommate's brother has been here for five days, and it's really time for him to go. Really. The guy is nice enough, but... yeah, fish and visitors, man.

Point the fifth: I have bought so many plane tickets recently. My poor checking account! Fortunately I'm getting reimbursed for some of them, since I was buying for me *and* friends. But seriously, my friends need to stop getting married. I can't keep jetting coast-to-coast for weddings at the drop of a hat!

Point the sixth: it always interests me to see what people rec, especially if the fic didn't make an impression on me at all. I'm not talking about any one author in particular; this *is* a drama-free journal, after all (heh). I just find it fascinating, seeing how fandom has a synergistic effect not only in increasing readership but also in possibly bending people to like something by peer pressure. I wonder to what extent the latter happens -- do you find you objectively like something more if your friends like it? Or do you find yourself wanting to be seen as liking something, even if it doesn't make much of an impression on you? I've gone back through recs of my own and reread the stories, often to a disconcerting realization about myself. Of course, how much of that is "I read it and loved it in the moment, but I can't duplicate those circumstances, so that's why it's not doing anything for me" isn't something that's easy to determine.

Watch me avoid making an "under the canon we had at that time" joke.

Point the seventh: have I mentioned that it's Saturday? I love Saturday.
