So the show tonight was good; we sang "Up The Ladder" for the mayor (who is, as one of the guys said, "dreamy" in person) and he seemed to like it, but then, he's a politician so he could probably seem to like us even if we sucked ass sideways. My solo, as ever, garnered more applause and congratulations than I think it deserved, but that's one of my Issues, so we won't go there.
Afterward, we went out for dinner and karaoke, and the place we went? Had been rented out by the Berkeley Business School for the night. ::headdesk:: Since I was depending on one of the guys for a ride home, I couldn't join the two guys who dashed off in search of another place, and my first attempt at karaoke did not happen. LAME. I was totally going to sing "Africa" or "Open Arms", too.
I think the new guy, Jason, is gay. He's a writer, he gives off a very nonstraight vibe (he pings my gaydar, certainly), and he's got a couple of other OGTs. When we carpooled over to the restaurant, I ended up in his car and we talked a bit and it was never awkward -- we had great back-and-forth conversation and he's kind of cute, too. And then, when we were talking about how impossible it is to find parking in the city (which we were trying to do), he mentioned how he and a girlfriend of his had found it impossible, too. That kind of floored me, really, because I've been flirting with him (um, okay, so I *think* I've been flirting with him; I don't know how much he'd recognize it as flirting...) and I think he's been flirting back, at least a little. Now, the fact that he's had girlfriends doesn't preclude boy-on-boy action, but it's certainly the first stumbling block in the road. I'm just surprised that my gaydar is wrong, because it's usually not. And yes, I know how much an in-group romance would suck. But he's only three years older than me and he sings and I'm getting kind of desperate, you know? ::headdesk:: Anybody want to Google-stalk him for me?
