First: I don't know how many of you follow politics, but you've probably heard about Mark Foley, a Republican member of the House of Representatives, who resigned last week over the revelation that he'd had not only "overly friendly" e-mail contact, but also sexually explicit IM conversations with former House pages (the kids who run errands). Naturally, this is pretty horriffic. But what is *more* horriffic is when the "gay = pedophile" meme gets traction again in the wake of this. From no less than the [Wall Street Journal]. Can we just say, once and for all, that homosexuality and pedophilia are not linked? This is one of many reasons I find it difficult to deal with social conservatives.

Second: the boy asked me to meet him in New York after his program, and spend a few days in the city. I am pondering. I'd also say "LJ MEETUP OMG!" but I will probably be spending all the time with the boy, so.

Third: I am seriously considering downloading this Heroes show I keep hearing about. I have seen lots of posts on it, and it sounds intriguing. It's also on Monday, so it wouldn't conflict with a cappella, like Supernatural does.

Fourth: All I really want to do today is play [Jigsaw Sudoku] and eat M&Ms. I think it has something to do with the fact that the boy came over and I didn't get to sleep until 2. Hmm.

Fifth: I keep seeing ( meta about SPN 2.01 )

New updates in the Foley case: he was molested as a child by a clergyman (his background is Roman Catholic) and he has checked himself into a (potentially Scientologist-run) rehab clinic for alcoholism. If this weren't already weird, it just got a thousand times weirder.

How much do you want to bet that this will bring on yet another round of Catholic-bashing and do all the dirty work of linking homosexuality and pedophilia for the people who want to present that angle? Moral Majority, my ass. And if I hear the phrase "values voters" one more time, I'm going to choke a bitch -- what, you think I don't vote based on my values? Jesus.

Oh, and that gay rights meme? Jesus. If you don't think I believe in gay rights, you clearly haven't been here long. I'm tempted to point out bexone's wonderful parody where she says "post this in your journal if you believe in not shooting puppies in the face" -- if you really want to know where I stand on something, ask me; don't expect me to wear it like a fucking *badge*.
