Guys, this is frustrating the hell out of me and anything you could do to even point me in the right direction would be *super* helpful. I'm looking in particular at
apetslife, who I know does network admin stuff, but anyone who can help will have my undying gratitude.
Basically, my parents' DSL modem will connect to their computer using a static single IP address, but will also broadcast a wireless signal. My brother's IBM laptop has no problem connecting to this network, but neither my MacBook nor my work MacBook Pro will connect -- the network is unsecured and I know I've connected to it in the past, but now each time I try I get a "connection timeout". I have tried power-cycling the modem. I have tried resetting it to its factory settings. I'm about at my wits' end here -- and of course I'm the techie in the house. I called Apple's tech support, who are usually very good, and they're stumped. I'm going to call Verizon tomorrow, but argh, Verizon tech support is like being stuck in the seventh level of hell. The modem is a POS made by Westell specifically for Verizon -- it's a VersaLink 327W. Both of my MacBooks are running Mac OSX 10.5.6 (i.e. latest update).
Anything?
