First things first:
spn_live west coast edition managed over 200 comments (218 and counting as of right now), so
estrella30 and
azewewish owe the collective west coast group some porn! I asked
dopplegl if he thought that they'd give us porn in proportion to their demands (i.e. we nearly *quadrupled* what Nan asked for, so would she write four things?) and he said probably not. OH WELL. We'll take what we can get!
Right. On to the recap!
Supernatural 1.19 "Provenance"
So, okay, this was not the best, but it featured prominently several things I like:
* brotherly banter
* Dean macking in bars
* Sam being adorably tongue-tied
* a female protagonist who DIDN'T SUCK
It also did not overdo the dramatic tension or explanation, which was good after the ANVIL ANVIL ANVIL of "Something Wicked". This was much more of what I've come to expect and love from this show.
The painting idea might've been kind of hackneyed, but I thought it worked. The girl was not my favorite guest so far, but she did what she was supposed to and had some FANTASTIC lines. All in all, I was quite happy with this ep. Sure, it was Monster Of The Week-y, but I'm okay with that. Even The X-Files didn't make *every* episode a mythology ep.
I'm sure I had more to say, but I said most of it in
spn_live.
So. Overall: A-, mostly for dialogue and their hotel room.
