A few things, in bullet format, since it's nearly bedtime.

a. I have been listening to musicals in the car on the way to work recently, but not your Old School Musicals -- recent ones. And I almost uniformly like them. I like the state of the American musical right now. (examples for those of you who care: Wicked, Little Women, The Light In The Piazza, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Songs For A New World) The only real downside is how much money it costs to mount a production. Sigh. I wish I had time to go see Guys and Dolls or Sweeney Todd in San Jose. ::pines for free time::

b. On the theater front, there are only two shows in the next year that I really want to audition for. More may come, but for now it's just Light in the Piazza (ideally Fabrizio, though I'm not exactly leading man material) and Into the Woods (Jack, duh). And actually, that would be kind of ideal in timing if I got both of them (LitP would start rehearsing in February for an April/May performance and ItW would start rehearsing in July for a September/October performance). So, you know. Fingers crossed and all that.

c. At work, it's all "blah blah blah the FY08 plan hasn't been signed off yet, so we can't hire you officially yet" and nobody knows when the FY08 plan will be signed off. Nevermind that FY08 begins THIS SUNDAY. ::facepalm::

d. Time to start seriously putting myself out there in the personals space. And getting my friends to try and introduce me to people. You'd think, doing musical theater, I would have met more gay men. And yet... only five gay men (and zero of them under 30) in three productions. WHAT THE CRAP. You'd think the theaters would be bursting at the seams with The Gays. Instead, I get stuck in productions with a whole bunch of nice heterosexuals.

e. The roommate and I made and froze a zillion cubes of pesto, so we'll have it for the winter. We are such rockstars. Actually, last night's dinner was pretty awesome, with some of the pesto and some focaccia she made out of store-bought pizza dough, and some mozzarella we made ourselves. YUM. I love food.

Oh, honey, I SO sympathize. My drought is of my own making tho, 'cause my vocation and avocation (Nursing and Slash) ... not the best hunting ground for a hetero woman.

-sigh-

I'll think good thoughts for you in all matters. =]

(Pesto= heaven)

Shouldn't men just fall from the sky? It would make things so much easier.

(oh yes, it is. YUM.)

Oh yum!! I always thought there was too much time required, but I'm going to try this (which is rather amusing, given that I can buy it fresh and warm in my neighborhood, but...HOMEMADE!!)

I'm doing well, Drew, thanks. Our home is kind of used as a revolving door B&B by friends -- which we love, but our standard spring/summer and now autumn rounds of houseguests basically took over and kept me from LJ for a very long time. Fun, but exhausting. I tried to skim as much as possible but I still need to go back and read a lot of things since March.

Wish you were coming down to LA next weekend, but it sounds like you're rather busy yourself. Hope things are smashingly good with you.
