Everyone I know is getting married.

That sounds like an exaggeration, but it's not. Not by much, anyway. I just got an email from my college roommate, who is moving to Austin for grad school and getting married next summer. This may mean I'm in Texas in the summer for a wedding. If I got to choose when to visit Texas? Summer would not be high on my list, I'll say that much. I understand Austin is a very nice (and somewhat liberal) town, and I hope he and his fiancée (whom I adore) are very happy there. But... MARRIED? ::sigh:: That will make nine or more of my college friends married by next summer.

And it's not like "call the papers, Drew feels lonely!" because that's not news, it's just true. But. Every time I hear about coupling, either in a "hi, this is my new girlfriend/boyfriend" way or a "we're getting married!" way, the sarcasm gets a little more entrenched, the thick blanket of loneliness gets a little heavier.

Which is absurd, because I'm 24. Behind me: lots of school. Still ahead: life. But when everybody's pairing off, it's hard not to notice. And, maybe, get a little jealous.

And for everybody who doesn't care about my personal problems and would instead prefer boyporn: check out [this item from my RSS reader]. (worksafe...ish. NOT!)

I feel your pain, hon. My younger sister's getting married and about 30% of my graduating class is either part of a Serious Couple, engaged, or hitched. Madness, I say. As much as being single rocks, and it does, sometimes it's just not fun and the Blanket of Loneliness is not the warm cuddley kind, but the smothering type, and. Bleh.

*pets*

The EEHHMSTM bunny! ::loves::

And yes, it is madness. I guess I'm also at that time in my life when the first wave of marriages happen. I hope I'm not hearing about the first wave of divorces in a couple years...

Thanks :)

I go to a Christian university, and the big thing is emerging with your MRS. degree, heh heh. So many of my friends have gotten married at like, 20. It's kinda skeery, actually. Like, being with the same person? For your entire life? Especially if they're the only person you've ever dated, ever? Sure, it works for some people, but if you've never known the guy or girl in any context except for school, the real world is going to be a bit of a shocker.

It's sad and wrong that I'm kindof anticipating the Divorce Wave (TM), isn't it? So jaded, is Amy.

Aw, Drew. Don't feel bad. It'll happen. (And really, if you look at some relationships too closely, they'll only make you feel good that you're not currently in one. I've had long long periods of being single because I'd rather be single than in a bad relationship. It's good to be picky.)

That said, holy crap that guy's tattoos are scary. Why would anybody want that phrase tattooed on them? Doesn't it translate to 'my god, my god why hast thou forsaken me'? Yikes.

Yeah, I'm not sure why he'd want that tattooed on him, either (that's the right translation). But *he's* hot!

Thanks, hon. It's just been one of those days.

Oh, honey, I know how you feel. All my high school friends that I still hang out with are married, engaged, in a serious relationship, having kids, etc. I'm loathing the prospect of going to my 10 year reunion this year and finding everyone all settled down and respectable.

Mmm, boyporn is definitely of the good.

I haven't heard that much from my high school friends, which is kind of relieving, actually -- I think that would freak me out more than my college friends. But still, the fact that they're all happily pairing off... I dunno. ::hands::

YES. Boyporn is the answer to all the world's woes.

FYI, that link is not really worksafe at all, since there are giant adds for porn, complete with giant cocks, running down the side of the page.

And *hugs* on the other stuff. I know exactly how you feel.

D'oh! Fixed. I forget, since I read it in my RSS reader, that it's all porny ads and stuff. Whoops!

Thanks, hon. :)

I live in Austin! You're right though, summer in Austin is horrible. It got up to like 115 in August and September, only it's like really humid, so it's like you're swimming through the heat. ICK.

Yeah. I suspect they'll get married somewhere near where I grew up, since her family's in Baltimore and his is about an hour west of DC. That'll be nice -- I might get to see my family while I'm there.

Man, I so know the feeling. I'm now one of the last--and oldest!)--cousins on my dad's side to be single, and the cousin one year older than me is now married for a year and a half and recently spawned. Help!

I mean really, people, what's the rush, here?

but yes with the jealous

Seriously. I'm all "HI YOU'RE NOT EVEN 25 YET WTF?!" but they just keep getting married... I dunno.
